Bread Story, Sunway Velocity Mall

The shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia are wonderful to visit. Although I try to avoid spending a lot of time inside shopping malls while traveling, they’re a peaceful departure from the unique city you’re visiting and they can provide just enough rest to energize you for the rest of the day. One of our favorite malls in KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) is called Sunway Velocity Mall.

I described this shopping mall in another blog post where Amit provided a review of his Bread Story experience. He tried 3 buns: Spiderman, Spicy Chicken and Al Amigo.

As Amit describes in the video, I was taking my time to select the treats I would sample because I was overwhelmed with the selection and I wanted to try pastries that were different from his. Ultimately I chose two buns: Smoke & Fire (pork floss, smoked turkey), Lemak (lemongrass, tomato sauce, fried sardines, chili & roasted peanuts).

The bread was very soft and soaked up the flavours well.

Bread Story is lovely. The furniture and overall design is full of French influence, including tall glass candy jars filled with small pastries, café-style seating as well as comfortable arm chairs and it’s fun to watch bakers work behind walls of glass. You can smell the pastry baking as you walk through the hallway.

The bread is very soft and supple. The savory buns were satisfying and tasty, but they were often dry unless served with a sauce to accompany the bun toppings.

I also had an Americano, and the espresso was excellent. If I were to return, I would order another Americano and either a sweet bun or a flaky savory pastry. Make sure to check out both videos so that you can see our expressions and take a peek at the shop itself.
